Installing node.js on Linode (Ubuntu 10.04)

Never really used Ubuntu for a server before.

Here's I was able to get it setup to run node.js and mongoDB.

Node:

apt-get update
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get install openssl
apt-get install libssl-dev
cd /root
mkdir builds
cd builds
wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.6.7/node-v0.6.7.tar.gz
tar xzvf node-v0.6.7.tar.gz
cd node-v0.6.7
./configure
make
make install

Mongo:

Follow these instructions:

cat 'deb http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/ubuntu-upstart dist 10gen' >> /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 7F0CEB10
sudo apt-get install mongodb-10gen
